Lifestyle Newborn Photographer in London
I have recently made the decision to move my newborn photography to entirely lifestyle and no longer offer the posed newborn portraits. This has been a very organic decision for me and something I have moved towards for the last couple of years. Posed newborn photography is beautiful and done well is stunning, but for me personally I feel more driven towards the more natural and authentic style that a lifestyle approach delivers. So what is lifestyle photography?... when I have discussed my thoughts with clients during sessions (particularly my growing base of returning clients) they have asked this very question, and for them I think they can't really see the distinction between what I have done thus far and what I am proposing for the future. Perhaps this is because my sessions have always included lifestyle photos and my style has always leaned more naturally in that direction, in fact my returning clients haven't even noticed a difference in what I have delivered in more recent shoots for them. Lifestyle photography means different things for different photographers and I won't try to offer a definitive answer to this question but for me it is a session in the subjects home or a place that has personal meaning to them, with minimal staging and posing, capturing a family and their connections in their own space. I try to interfere as little as possible only to ensure that I get the best of the light and to ensure the framing of the picture will deliver a pleasing picture, props are limited only to those that are important to the subjects, a little teddy or toy or precious hand knitted blanket. The session I have included here is one such lifestyle shoot... and depicts exactly (I think) the beauty of family and their connections captured naturally and authentically.
